Dara Stewart

Biography:

 

Dara Stewart is a young, enthusiastic and talented professional bassist emerging onto the Scottish and UK music scene.

 

Beginning his musical education on piano in late 1997 and his electric bass studies in Edinburgh 2003, Dara worked his way through high school gaining experience in local, regional and national Jazz orchestras and music ensembles.

After purchasing his first double bass in early 2008, Dara was accepted to the City of Edinburgh Music School and shortly after - in the summer of 2009 - was accepted to Glasgow's Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (Formerly RSAMD) to study for his BMus (Hons) in Double Bass and Electric Bass performance.

 

Dara has also completed his Advanced Diploma in Jazz (Double Bass and Electric Bass) with St Andrews University in 2010.

 

Professionally Dara has worked with Musical Theatre companies such as Michael Rose LTD, UK Theatre School and Dance School of Scotland. Dara has also had the pleasure of working with Glasgow Chamber Orchestra, Byers Road Big Band and Bard in the Botanics as well as various other musical ensembles and festivals across Scotland.

 

Throughout his studies in Glasgow, Dara has worked with various ensembles and companies including the RCS Symphony Orchestra, RCS Chamber Orchestra, One Academy Productions. Alongside these productions Dara works closely with the Musical Theatre department for their annual 'Candid Cabarets', 'Showcase' and 'Company Scenes' projects.

 

Dara has also worked as a session musician for various recording projects including the Original Cast Recording of "Musicville" for One Academy Productions as well as working on producing performance soundtracks for Dance School of Scotland and the RCS.

 

Previously Dara has also worked with choirs and ensembles as Musical Director.
